Library Guidelines

The Library will be a quiet, but probably not silent, place to find books, magazines, online resources, for research for school papers and projects, leisure reading, and just to find information on a wide range of subjects. You need a pass from a subject teacher to come to the library, during your study period. Please arrive promptly and check in with Mr. Highland or Mrs. Cadrin.

You may borrow as many books as needed as long as they are not on hold for another patron. Materials go out for three weeks. Sign out books by bringing your ID card or other photo ID to the library sign out desk. We will stamp the date the material is due in the back of the book, and check it out to you on the automated system. You may renew books, magazines and pamphlets as needed, unless it has been reserved for another person.

Overdue notices will be sent to your homeroom on Tuesday, with follow-up on Thursday. You are expected to be responsible for all borrowed materials as if they were your own. If lost, please let us know immediately, and we will let you know the replacement cost. You must bring materials in to be renewed and they cannot be renewed if they have been requested by another student. Use materials wisely and in a timely fashion. We will set up reserves for individual teachers’ classes, some of which may have shorter due dates, ie a 3-day, one week. Overdue fines are 10 cents per day per item. New last year! Reference books do go out of the library overnight. They must be returned by 8am the next morning.

Late fines are $1.00 per day. You may also copy reference materials on the copy machine. Charges to copy are 10 cents per page. A number of reference materials are available on CD-ROM and over the Internet. You must have an ID and password to access the school network; see Mr. Highland or Mrs. Abelson.

ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY AND NETWORK INTERNET CODE OF ETHICS ARE IN THE COMMUNITY HANDBOOK/CALENDAR AND MUST BE SIGNED.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please see Library staff.
