Athletic Department

The St Joseph High School Athletic Department consists of a diligent group of staff members and coaches who are dedicated to their responsibilities as representatives of St Joe's. They take pride in instilling values of hardwork, motivation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive character and attitude in every player that steps into their office or onto their field to compete.

Kevin Butler - Assistant Principal for Athletics

Mr Kevin Butler was appointed Assistant Principal for Athletics at St Joseph High School effective December 1, 2013.
Mr Butler has been the Director of Athletics at St Luke’s School in New Canaan for eight years, where he has received several sportsmanship awards, including recognition from the Special Olympics of Connecticut. Prior to St Luke’s, he was the Program Director of the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, where he oversaw education and athletic programs. His experience and leadership skills will enhance our focus on the student-athlete and college placement.
Kevin has his Bachelors from the University of Western Ontario and his Masters in Physical Education (Coaching) from Central Michigan University. He played college lacrosse at the university level, and was recognized as an International Scholar.
Kevin lives in Trumbull with his wife, Mary Ellen, and their three children.

Stacey Nasser - Associate Athletic Director

Stacey Nasser joined St Joseph High School in July 2016 as the Associate Athletic Director. Her position entails all of the athletic office manager functions as well as focus on game operations/management, athletic social media and communications, athletic website design and applications, and will play a major role in athletic events, such as the golf tournament and Hall of Fame.

Stacey served eight years as a graduate extern and Director of Basketball Operations for Temple University Women's basketball team. Prior to Temple, Stacey served as the UCONN Women's basketball team manager and worked with all sports at UCONN on game day operations.

Stacey received her BS in Kinesiology, Coaching and Administration from UCONN and her MS from Temple University in Sport Administration.

Daniel McDonagh - Athletic Trainer

Dan McDonagh has been the full-time Athletic Trainer for St Joe's since 2002. He works as an outreach ATC for Rehabilitation Associates Inc. He also joined the Science department at SJ in 2003 and currently teaches Earth Science, Biology, and Sports Medicine. He holds an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Castleton State College and a Master's degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University (class of 2002). He is available to every team and every student-athlete at SJ while covering all home contests and away football games.

Alisha Thresher - Director of Health and Wellness

Alisha Thresher joined St Joseph High School in the Fall of 2017 as the Director of Health and Wellness. Alisha graduated from Southern Maine University in 2010 with her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Sports Nutrition. She went on to Salisbury University in Maryland and worked as a Graduate Assistant with the men’s and women’s swimming and tennis teams.

Alisha has experience as a performance enhancement specialist, first at the Parisi Speed School where she worked with high school athletes, and then at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY, where she taught in the Exercise Science department and was the assistant athletic trainer for the junior college’s 13 athletic teams. She was also the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Watertown Rams, a PGCBL collegiate baseball team.

Alisha’s broad experience ranges from coaching young mothers who want to lose “baby weight” to training soldiers for the Special Forces’ Ranger School, to readying units preparing for combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Alisha completed her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science at California University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation. She continued to work with military personnel at Fort Drum, where she incorporated functional training and injury prevention protocols into fitness readiness programs for the soldiers. At Fort Drum, she was the National Director of Functional Fitness for Team RWB- a non-profit veteran outreach program.

For the last four years, Alisha has been the Director of Health and Wellness at the Woodruff Family YMCA in Milford, CT. She has overseen the $3.2 million wellness center renovation, as well as managed a wide variety of fitness programs aimed at all levels of skill. Alisha brings an academic focus to exercise physiology. She is currently a Project Manager for a phase three clinical trial on the effects of exercise on Mild Cognitive Impairment in partnership with Y of the USA, Wake Forest University and the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study.

When not teaching or training others, Alisha plays soccer (Southern Maine Huskies), runs marathons, and has an ironman triathlon to her credit. She has recently graduated to Crossfit competitions and trains with Crossfit Milford.
